Ownership Rights in Russia
The Civil Code of the Russian Federation is the principal legal document regulating ownership in Russia.
Contents of ownership laws concern the rights of the owner on possession, use and transferal of the property1.
Forms of ownership:
• private
• state
• municipal
Ownership right holders can be:
- Russian Federation and its regions in regard of state property
- municipal establishments in regard of municipal property
- citizens and legal entities in regard of private property (a range of objects of private ownership is limited by the separate types of property which in compliance with the law cannot belong to citizens or legal entities).
